Inverse fallacy

An (inadmissible) reversal of a logical cause-effect or of an ‘if-then’ relationship.

For example:

If an animal is a dog, then it has four legs.
This animal is not a dog.
Therefore, that this animal does not have four legs.

The inversion error is a synonym for the formal fallacy of denying the antecedent and is used here specifically to refer to its practical applications.
